Rohru, Himachal Pradesh: The pre monsoon climbing and trekking season hasn’t even commenced in India yet, and a major exploratory breakthrough has been achieved. Aditya Bikram Pande, a prominent mountaineer from Himachal Pradesh has discovered a new 8000 metre peak in the state.

Until now, only 14 peaks of elevation over 8000m (above sea level) are known to exist in the entire world. 8 of which are in Nepal, 5 in Pakistan and 1 in China. Among these Kangchenjunga is the only 8000er lying on the Indo-Nepal border in Sikkim. With the discovery of the new peak, India will have its own 8000er lying entirely within its political territory.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

‘I could immediately make out that I have discovered something ‘unknown’ because the peak was not marked on the maps that I had inspected before the trip.’

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”5670″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]Aditya discovered the Himalayan summit while trekking in the Bhajogi valley near his hometown in Rohru, HP. Aditya says, ‘I could immediately make out that I have discovered something ‘unknown’ because the peak wasn’t marked on the maps that I had inspected before the trip.’ Describing the summit Aditya reflects ‘the peak towers over the neighboring topography and is at least 7000 feet higher than all the other mountains that surround it.’  The Rohru based mountaineer employed the help of 3 Nepali sherpas and ferried over 200 kgs of gear and supplies, to venture into the remote high altitude valley where the peak is situated.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

Secretary of State, Mr. Hindukush Vishwanath extols the Chowkidar of Indian Mountaineering.

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Although the exact height of the peak remains to be ascertained, some are estimating that it may even be higher than Mt. Everest (the highest peak in the world). Responding to the news, Secretary of State, Mr. Hindukush Vishwanath said, ‘I am elated by this discovery. Until now, Indian mountaineers aren’t allowed to climb the 8000ers in Pakistan. Now we have something substantial to exact revenge on our neighbor. I am sure the PMOo will ban Pakistani mountaineers from touching our sacred mountain. Which stands tall like a Chowkidar of Indian mountaineering.’[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

Dedicates the peak to PM NAMO.

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]While Aditya is humble about his ground breaking achievement, he has decided to dedicate the peak to PM NAMO. Promethium (Pm), Sodium (Na), Molybdenum (Mo), the prime constituents of the rock formation on the mountain.

However, our editor-in-chief believes that no matter how tall the newly discovered mountain maybe; it isn’t even close to the pile of hoaxes doing the rounds on social media, like this one. We advise readers to practice, good judgement and reason while consuming the content off the internet and other mass media. Especially, one which influences political opinion this election season.

On a serious note, if you’ve made this far you are probably not the gullible kinds. And may be a perfect candidate for 4Play UNWIND. We are handpicking 9 individuals for an authentic mountain life experience over an extended weekend. This April. Check out this LINK.

And tell us, how are you training to climb the India’s highest mountain, in the comment section below.[/vc_column_text][vc_separator border_width=”2″][vc_column_text]
